Colonic Polyps
Colonic polyps are clusters of tissue that develop in the colon. Typically, colonic polyps are harmless, but some have the potential to develop into cancer. During a colonoscopy, your gastroenterologist can remove polyps to prevent the risk of cancer.
The likelihood of having polyps increase if:
- You are over 50
- Have a family member with polyps or colon cancer
- Have had polyps before
