Colonic Polyps

Colonic polyps are clusters of tissue that develop in the colon. Typically, colonic polyps are harmless, but some have the potential to develop into cancer. During a colonoscopy, your gastroenterologist can remove polyps to prevent the risk of cancer.

The likelihood of having polyps increase if:

  • You are over 50
  • Have a family member with polyps or colon cancer
